what a coinkydink, same cup! what are the chances?

seriously, what are the chances. i know some of you consider yourselves to be “mathematicians”. i commence complicated word problem:

i have posted thirty six cup styles, discounting mixed cups, take away cardboard and indeterminate species, but prior to september 1, i had maybe twenty available to me, ignoring purchases and theft that have occurred between january 1 and sept 1. there are still 5 to 7 styles that i have not posted but have had coffee out of since sept 1. so? please answer with 3 significant digits.

in the meantime, #96

October 25, 2008

i am too lazy to look up the 25th of june – was it a tuesday? would i be able to glean any interesting tidbit to share about this otherwise ordinary cappuccino if i did look? i dunno.

it is my traditional saturday use coffee mug, it’s rounded shape and squat character lending itself in my mind to relaxing on the weekend, curling up on the couch with coffee and book to read until finally i have to get up with a hunger headache. also, it is opposite in shape to the taller mugs i prefer on weekdays: pulled up to their full height, responsibly attacking the work that waits from the day before.

unless i’ve told you this story already…this is a replacement saturday mug for the original which i inadvertently smashed against the concrete stairway at home when i brought the hapless thing in to work for variety and then back to be washed. i’m sure the first one was just a bit different, and therefore better, than this new one.

mocha!

October 24, 2008

hastily made and delicious with an espresso from yesterday and the near dessicated remains of another from some other time that i’m sure i shouldn’t have added, but i did. seemed a shame to waste it, what with all the virtual water used to produce the beans that produced the espresso.

would you believe that snazzy dude in the background is responsible for such incredible work? he deserves to read harry potter and pop a squat in the sun doncha know. he also deserves that cappuccino, but i’m not sharing.

d.d. would be downdate, getting tired of typing that out. plus d.d. looks vaguely like a time line designation, b.c.-esque, and coffee is like a religion.

as i worked on this photo, something reminded me of this kid i had a crush on in high school, a footballer naturally. i’m tempted to say there must have been a swimsuit portion of football tryouts, but that was patently not true. there were some real dogs on our team too.

there is a quality here that silently whispered “number fifty eight” to me. i’m a little under the weather which tends to make me nostalgic. or it reminds me of that crushed solo cup i saw him drink from after one practice and surreptitiously spirited away to my collections.

kidding! gosh – i never picked up anyone’s crushed solo cup or gently pressed my lips to it’s crumpled edge or dna tested it for genetic compatibility. we didn’t have that kind of technology at our school.
