sort of breakfast
September 11, 2009
peanut butter nutella right out of the jar and in to my tummy. probably shouldn’t offer people nutella in the office since i basically stick my entire face in the jar on a regular basis. cooties – blech.
incidentally, i was drinking coffee from this cup one morning as i walked to work. naturally enough i dropped it on the sidewalk where it bounced three or four times. me balancing bags, retractable leash, dog, dog-curbing and coffee? does not compute. miraculously, not a scratch. however i rarely hold it from the handle, constantly expecting it to suddenly pop off on unseen fractures.
whew, that was a close one

i have a small problem with time, specifically it’s rather rapid, and unnoticed, passage resulting in my enduring lateness to anything. i was late to my own birth by two and a half weeks, what chance did i have? clearly i was meant to be late to everything.
this morning it was a dermatology appointment that caught me off guard, but thanks to an old college friend all the way across the country i managed in thirty minutes to get dressed, walk the dog, take my meds, zip downtown in “just reopened bridge after extended labor day weekend closure” traffic, park the car and travel up 14 floors in an elevator containing roughly eight people all stopping on different floors.
i crossed the doctor’s threshold on the dot of 8:30.
nothing short of miraculous as i usually walk to appointments downtown. or get dropped off so i didn’t know where to park or where i was in the parking lot relative to the office building i needed and i forgot what floor his office was on and just guessed as i punched the button. gosh.
this one is for you jen!

a.m. chai latte and then…
September 1, 2009
in the absence of rich delicious espresso, i remember the delights of chai – duh!
what-ho! special delivery at 3:30 pm it is the new coffee!
i was unimpressed with the smell of the beans, but the crema came out lovely (although machine was on all day so that may have helped) and the espresso on it’s own was yummy and nutty? fruity? tobaccoy? different tasting is the best i can determine. the addition of lousy foamed milk (kinda looks ok here thanks to my unskillful photo) in the graydon made it quite a tasty treat.
the preceding paragraph a taste of what i had originally intended for this site; not merely visuals of coffee, but actual notes on what i do and try in an effort to make a better cup of coffee. my best laid plans often require more of me than i am willing to give.
